How did flat boats used in the 1700's effect it's economy?

please anyone. and if you have anymore information please help ! thankyou|||Flat boats were used in the American colonies to get crops from out of the way places to major ports so they could be sold and transported to other countries including England. They would primarily be used in areas that had rivers or canals, a lot of them in the Middle and Southern colonies. They were used to transport things like tobacco and rice or indigo. Their use increased the number of crops that could reach market and be sold and increased the profit of the farmer or plantation owner producing the crop.
