What is the system used to store boats on a lake via a coaster/track device?

What is the system used by people who live on a house lake and use a track/coaster device to lower their boat from a garage to the lake and back called? Ex. While I was on a lake I saw houses that had tracks coming down from a garage into a lake. There is a winch that lowers the boat from the house into the lake, and takes the boat back from the lake into a garage, What is this system called? Thank you for your time.|||What you are describing is a "boat lift". actually there are several types and those with tracks are "railways"......but you should be able to find them by Goggling boat lifts. The garage is referred to as a "boat house".





I should tell you that there are significant cost involved, and insurance issues that you need to check into before you buy.|||If it uses RAILS then it's a MARINE RAILWAY.. lots of commercial shipyards still use them for the big boats.|||S/W is right, Marine Railway is what that is called.
