When were phones used on boats?

I can't find a date for the first ship with a phone system, I would guess it was not long after phones came into use on land (1880's?). The first ship to shore radiotelephone call was in 1922. The limitation was the range of your transmitter. Ships today use satellites that allow you to call any phone on earth while at sea.|||Well, phones werent really installed on boats.
