What kind of boats were used in the first bassmaster classic?
In the first classic, the competitors were only allowed to bring four poles and a predetermined amount of tackle. They were flown to Lake Mead (they didn't know where they were going to fish). They were provided with Rebel Fastbacks bass boats. Pretty simple rig with a 90hp motor on it. It wouldn't even break 40mph. Nowadays the pros cruise at 70-80 mph.|||they weren't of the kind we see common today,the bassboats of today were developed after the BASS was founded.Most of them were open aluminum jobs,without livewells or trolling motors that mounted on the bow,some were fiberglass ski boats converted over for fishing,kinda primitive compared to the sophisticated electronic jobs available today.As far as I can remember they might have been Ranger boats that were awarded as prizes way back when.|||the kind that float
